The International Institute of Medicine & Science, California (U.S.A.), is proud to announce the appointment of Prof.-Dr. B. Shetty, MBBS, MD, DNB, MD (USA) as Professor and Director (India).
Dr. Shetty is a physician-scientist and an educator. He received his medical education in India (MBBS at the KMC Mangalore, and MD in Diagnostic Radiology at the KMC Manipal). He is a Diplomate of the Indian National Board of Examiners in Diagnostic Radiology, a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in Pediatric Radiology (at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston) and in Body Imaging (at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas) with postings in cardiac MRI, musculoskeletal MRI, and ultrasound, He is also a member of the (U.S.) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Dr. Shetty is certified by Harvard University (in back pain, osteoporosis, and stress management), Stanford University (in child nutrition and cooking), and several North American, American, and European Universities (in Radiology).
Since 2012, Prof. Shetty is Vice Chancellor, Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education in Tumkur and, since 1998, a Professor of Radiology, Sri Siddhartha Medical College, both institutions in Bangalore, India.
Dr. Shetty is also a member of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), the Society for the Advancement of Science in Africa (SASA), and a global health non-governmental organization (CHESTRAD). He was invited to attend and participate in meetings of several international organizations sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) among others.
Dr. Shetty is the Founder of three international Journals (Journal of Action Research for Social Development, Journal of Inter disciplinary Research, and Journal of Tropical Radiology) and a reviewer for several other Journals. He is also the Founder of the Global Telemedicine Foundation (GTF). He has published extensively.
As a Vice Chancellor and an educator, Dr. Shetty has developed innovative methods in teaching, education, and research including the “Found Answer First, Discuss Later” in teaching, education, and research” (the Z-A technique) and the “Embryology, Anatomy, and Physiology” teaching module for the basic sciences. He also designed the “Please project” for higher education students to teach in village schools to compensate for teacher deficiency in rural schools of India. This project was submitted to the Indian Education Department, the WHO, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Society for the Advancement of Science in Africa (SASA) for implementation. He also founded the “Founder Green Graduation”, a sustainable environment project wherein students adopt a plant during their course and have their graduation certificate bear the picture of that plant.
Dr. Shetty has also been active in societal outreach projects including the “Adoption of Schools, Villages, and Districts” by the University for Health Care and Education and the “Lake Rejuvenation” projects for rain water harvesting. He has also presented lectures in national television on health care, mobile radiation, camera flash, H1N1, anti-rabies, and other vaccination programs for the community. He has also promoted innovative approaches and participation in the COVID-19 global health crisis including continuous learning, regular evaluation of the pandemic, vaccines, technology adoption in education during the pandemic, protective guidelines and immunity boosting, and medical diagnosis and management.
